Hello March…Spring is in sight!

What a great month in our café we had in February! We were super busy over half term! Which is always a good sign. We have been busy getting our ideas together to get ready for Mother’s day this month, keep your eyes peeled for our poster with the special deal we will be running in a couple of weeks. We will also be starting a senior coffee morning which we are very exciting about so keep an eye out on our social media pages! This spring is also celebrating World Down Syndrome Day and Comic Relief, which we have exciting things in store for.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to redesign our uniforms soon and we have just the colour to make our stamp on the Harrogate town centre so you will know exactly who we are! We will also have a sneak preview of those in the next few weeks on our social media pages.

Two more Saturday job roles have also now been offered to our current trainees and we have now filled both posts to Jo Hammond and William Lake which is very exciting for our trainees to be given this opportunity to be in paid employment. We have also given our trainee of the month to William Lake this month which he was really happy to receive on his visit into the café for lunch this week. Well done WIlliam!

We have an activity colouring station for children in the café now which has been used a lot during half term and we have also ordered a couple more highchairs so we can start thinking about our mothers and tots coffee morning.

Check out the little post below introducing you to another of our cafe trainees, Sam.

Trainee Blog

Hello my name is Sam McGuire.

I work at the Harrogate chocolate factory café on a Thursday as a trainee. My favourite part of the job is working with my friends, and learning how to make coffees and speak to customers.

I like speaking to customers and making them laugh and feel happy in the café.

I started working in the café when it opened 7 months ago my manager said we opened and since then I have learnt a lot of new skills that I can use at home and take with me when I go into a job.

I would like to work in a car shop and help customers find cars and sit them down and chat with them and maybe let them test drive cars.

The café helps me with my customer skills and will help me be more independent.

My manager and supervisor Michael and Jade are very fun to work with and they keep me busy and help me learn new things every Thursday.

When I come in before I start work I pay for my lunch and I have a tuna panini and coleslaw and it’s my favourite I love the food here. I also always have to have a Pepsi and a hot chocolate!

I have now learnt to make a latte with help so If you want me to make you a latte then come along to the café and I will serve you one I have made.
